atkAudio Plugin

Plugin Host

  • VST3 plugin host for OBS.
  • Up to 8 channels.
  • Sidechain support.
  • AU plugins on Apple macOS.
  • LADSPA and LV2 plugins on Linux.

Plugin Host2

  • Build filter graphs (signal chains) with multiple plugin instances.
  • Saving and loading of filter graphs as files.
  • MIDI support.
  • etc.
Plugin Host2 can interface directly with audio and MIDI hardware, OBS audio sources, and output audio as new OBS sources, allowing for complex audio processing setups. E.g. use ASIO interface as audio device, take additional audio from OBS sources, route monitoring to ASIO outputs and/or different audio drivers/hardware, use plugins and create final mix, and output the processed audio as a new OBS source for recording and streaming. Or just create a simple soundboard with a sampler plugin and a MIDI keyboard.

Device I/O

  • Send and receive audio directly into and from audio devices.
  • "Anything from/to anywhere" device routing.
  • ASIO, CoreAudio and Windows Audio devices.

Audio Source Mixer (OBS Source)

  • Mix audio from up to 8 OBS sources into a new OBS audio source.
  • E.g. allows creating new submixes.
  • Can be used as 'dummy' audio source to host Audio Device I/O input.

Latest reviews

This plugin is excellent. The best way to load standard Audio Unit (macOS) or VST3 plugins into OBS. Before this plugin, the only way to achieve this was to use tools like Element from Kushview as a plugin host with the native OBS SVT2 plugin filter.
This plugin makes it much easier. It works also quite reliable. There were some glitches in between, but they were fixed with updates even before I could make an error report.
The GUI of this plugin is also better than the VST2 plugin version of OBS and it even allows for directly selecting a side chain from any OBS source. Wonderful.
The ATK device IO works for me better even than Exeldro's audio monitor. Less audio glitches when the CPU has some more work to do and on Windows there seem to be less problems when the audio source gets restarted (TV, XR18 etc.).
I haven't used the ATK mixer function a lot, as well as the newer ATK plugin 2 (patch bay) version, so I can't make any review on these functions.

I suggest this ATK filter to everybody who wants to improve their audio quality in OBS, it can take it to the next level, while still being quick and easy to use (compared to using an extra VST2 plugin host). Definitely worth leaving some donations for on their website, although, unfortunately, it only allows for a monthly/yearly donation subscription instead of a one-time donation. Maybe they change this in the future.

BTW:
In the current screenshots of this plugin, the author included the Audio Unit plugin "AUSoundIsolation" (from Apple, only available on MacOS).
This is a very good option for voice isolation. It removes background noise and even reverb from vocal content.
We use this A LOT, on every single microphone we are using in our setup. Very low CPU usage compared to Waves Clarity VX and similar plugins while keeping the original voice unmodified as in contrast to Accentize DXRevive or (even worse) the Crumplepop voice enhancer. Less artifacts than the OBS build-in noise reduction options (when used below 95% in AUSoundIsolation - don't set it to 100%) or Bertom Denoise. But it adds around 40ms extra latency, which is kind of standard for this kind of plugins (except Bertom etc).

Thank you for your review, hatibo3504. Glad to hear the plugin has been useful. Feel free to take Plugin Host2 to the range. Plugin Host2 also allows you to basically bypass OBS for software-based audio monitoring. Options > Change Device Settings and switch driver from OBS to e.g. ASIO/CoreAudio. Audio Input and Audio Output modules are now directly connected to selected device driver. Build your mix and routings etc. Add plugins. Use Device Io to input|output audio from|to other device drivers. Use OBS Source module to read audio input from regular OBS Sources, e.g. Window Capture. Finally, add OBS Output module and route your 'final mix' to it. OBS Output module shows as regular audio source Ph2OutN in OBS audio mixer, and ensure this is your only active source for stream/recording output. So, Plugin Host2 combines Plugin Host, Device Io and Source Mixer into one graph interface plus adds extensive routing capabilities and direct access to audio devices.
Also needed to show some love for this plugin. I use a lot of programs in tandem with OBS in order to do music creation and process my mic, but being able to load VST3 and even get access to my audio hardware inside OBS is a MASSIVE help.

No real issues yet, and stable performance so far!
I just had to login to leave a review and say thank you for actually making an Audio Plugin system that can actually loads VST3 (and so much more) with a proper UI. You're a hero. So far I haven't encountered any serious issues it seems like.
